The Otis Toy Design Department wants to extend a warm thank you to Lee Loetz, a talented Toy and Character Designer, for the wonderful instructional and entertaining workshop he gave to the Otis Sophomore Toy Design students on Monday, April 23rd.
During the time that Lee was a Senior Toy Design Director for Disney, he designed toys, created art for Disney Artist Collector Series by Upper Deck and illustrated books featuring Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, 101 Dalmatians, Disney Authentic and others.
Lee now manages his own busy design studio, Popfly Design in Burbank, California. His client list includes Fisher-Price, Playmates Toys, Cranium, Build A Bear, Mattel, Sony and Disney. Lee has made presentations at all the major Toy Fairs in New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Nuremburg. He also holds two toy invention patents.
Lee studied animation at Cal Arts and has a BA degree from UC Davis. He worked for Disney for 11 years before leaving to start his own studio.
Lee has promised to be back again next term to lead additional workshops in Character Design and how it relates to designing toys.
